A Pembrokeshire businesswoman who runs an award-winning business, Calm Treatment Rooms and Calm Organic Beauty, in Kilgetty, has visited 10 Downing Street after being chosen as one of the top 100 small businesses in the UK.

Lisa Mansell visited 10 Downing Street as part of a reception for small business owners to mark Small Business Saturday, which took place on Saturday, December 2.

Lisa, who offers a range of beauty and holistic treatments and products, was selected by Small Business Saturday as one of 100 small businesses to champion.

She, and other small business owners, were welcomed by Stephen Barclay MP, Economic Secretary to the Treasury, Baroness Fairhead CBE, Minister of State at the Department for International Trade, Claire Perry MP, Minister of State at the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy and Caroline Nokes MP, Minister for Government Resilience and Efficiency.

Lisa had the opportunity to talk with other small business owners from all over the UK about Calm Treatment Rooms and what she is planning at the new salon, Calm Organic Beauty, and to also talk about Pembrokeshire to people from across the UK and forming ties with small business owners through a series of events.

She said: “It was a great honour to visit Number 10 Downing Street, helping to represent all the small businesses which are the backbone of the UK economy and to meet so many other inspirational small business owners.”

Calm Treatment Rooms opened eight-and-a-half years ago and has won several awards; just this year it was a finalist for small salon of the year and the only Welsh business at the BABTAC and CIBTAC Awards in London and Lisa was also a finalist for therapy practitioner of the year at the Holistic Therapist Magazine awards.

“It has been quite a year, especially with opening the new organic salon, this invitation to visit 10 Downing Street has been such a fantastic experience. It has been great being involved with Small Business Saturday, but I’ve also had a chance to get to know some of the local business owners in Kilgetty and they have all been so enthusiastic about joining in with Small Business Saturday this year. I am hoping we can grow and develop as a village that has such a brilliant selection of businesses.”
