The annual Lanterns in the Park lantern parade is taking place this year in Pembroke Dock. The first parade took place in 2007 and 14 years later is still as popular as ever. This year it is taking place on Friday (December 3), beginning at 6 pm prompt from its usual starting point at the Youth Centre on Bush Street in Pembroke Dock. Lanterns can be collected from 5.15 pm on parade night.
Free drop-in Lantern making workshops with Sand Palace Arts are taking place in the Youth Centre tomorrow (Saturday) and Sunday, November 28 from 10 to 4 pm. Masks will need to be worn inside the building as per covid-19 regulations and please provide your own refreshments for the workshops.
Samba Doc and Father Christmas will lead the parade around the Memorial Park, with Father Christmas mingling in the crowd afterwards to hand out sweets to the children. Pembrokeshire Fire Spinners will end the evening with a spectacular fire display.
Funders of this year’s parade are Pembroke Dock Town Council, Milford Haven Port Authority and Pembroke Dock Cricket Club Committee. Without their input the parade would not have taken place, so the organisers are hugely thankful. For more information about the event please ’phone Liz Cook on 01646 621811.
