The January meeting of Kilgetty, Begelly Community Council took place last Thursday at Kilgetty-Begelly Community Centre when the latest news and main items discussed were:

The council welcomed the new clerk, Mrs. Melanie Priestley

It was noted that the Christmas lights on Begelly roundabout were greatly received and enjoyed.

Council are still waiting for quotes for the installation of the play equipment for the Begelly play area. Kilgetty, Begelly Community Council will discuss the installation of additional litter and recycling bins in its area at its February meeting, as feedback was still awaited from Pembrokeshire County Council.

Repairs to the deep potholes at the entrance to the Doctors’ Surgery car park in Kilgetty, should be undertaken shortly by the Co-operative’s contractor.

A litter pick has been arranged for Sunday, January 19, meeting at Kilgetty, Begelly Community Centre at 11 am. Further information will be available on the local Kilgetty Facebook page.

Kilgetty, Begelly Community Council are relaunching the Certificate of Appreciation. The purpose of this certificate is to honour a person within the ward of Kilgetty, Begelly for their efforts and willingness to serve the community. Please send any details of nominees to the clerk.

The council discussed and set the 2020/2021 precept at £25,000. There is no increase from the 2019/2020 precept.

Dyfed-Powys Police surgeries continue to be held in the Community Centre, Kilgetty, on the second Thursday of each month between 10am and 12 noon. Kilgetty, Begelly Community Council members also attend these surgeries to answer any questions and to listen to matters of concern from local residents.

Planning

KBCC considered the following planning applications and after discussion made the following recommendations to Pembrokeshire County Council:

Highlands, Ryelands Lane, Kilgetty - proposed new garage.

Following consideration, the council recommended approval.

West Farm, Reynalton - conversion of redundant barns to dwellings and garage.

COUNTY CLR. DAVID?PUGH’S REPORT

Pembrokeshire County Council are holding Public Engagement sessions regarding their 2020/2021 budget. Timings can be found on the county council website.

The road surfacing scheme is scheduled to commence on February 27.

The next meeting of Kilgetty, Begelly Community Council is scheduled to take place on Thursday, February 13, at Kilgetty, Begelly Community Centre, commencing at 7 pm. A 15-minute public participation session is always scheduled prior to the start of full council meetings.
