Kilgetty Begelly Community Council wish all residents a merry Christmas and a happy New Year - Nadolig Llawen a Blyddyn Newydd Dda.

The latest meeting of the council (KBCC) took place at Kilgetty-Begelly Community Centre last Thursday.

At the start of the evening Mr. Ian Morris, outgoing clerk, was presented with a plaque by Clr. Mrs Diane Lockley, chair, in recognition of his outstanding service to the council over the past seven years and wished him well for the future (pictured).

The latest news and main items discussed were:

• KBCC will be reviewing Phase 2 of the footway improvement work due commence next year, near to Fir Grove

• New play equipment for Begelly Play Area will be installed next year once a contractor has been arranged.

• Repairs to the deep potholes at the entrance to the GP surgery car park in Kilgetty, have again been requested.

• The installation of 2019 Christmas lighting on Begelly roundabout has been completed and issues around the lights in Carmarthen Road rectified.

• Interviews for the new clerk are due to take place before Christmas.

• Dyfed-Powys Police surgeries continue to be held in the Community Centre, Kilgetty, on the second Thursday of each month between 10 am and 12 noon. KBCC councillors also attend these surgeries to answer any questions and to listen to matters of concern from local residents.

Community Association (BKCA)

• Heaters in the Plum Room have been changed.

• Roof repairs to the community centre have been authorised.

• Repairs to the porch have been completed.

Planning

KBCC considered the following planning application and after discussion made the following recommendation to Pembrokeshire County Council: Proposed extension to form bedroom (partly in retrospect) at East Lake, Thomas Chapel. Council recommended approval.

County Clr. David Pugh’s report

County Clr. Pugh provided the following report:

• PCC are looking into the concerns of the state of the car park at Heritage Park, Stepaside.

Next meeting

The next meeting of KBCC is scheduled to take place on Thursday, January 9, 2020, at Kilgetty-Begelly Community Centre, commencing at 7 pm. A 15-minute public participation session is always scheduled prior to the start of full council meetings.
