Ahead of the full council meeting, Purple Routes Play Project, a Big Lottery funded play project run by the Carmarthenshire Association for Voluntary Services, presented their work on delivering open access play sessions for children aged between five and 15. Purple Routes had requested that their project be extended to Kilgetty. All Purple Routes Play Project staff had current CRB checks in place, were trained and qualified play workers and some were also trained in first aid.
Councillors agreed that Purple Routes undertake a trial of their play sessions for children at the playing field in Kilgetty between May and July - this will take the form of one, two-hour session, every two weeks. Posters promoting the sessions will be displayed in the Kilgetty community notice boards in due course and Purple Routes will also be speaking with Stepaside School to raise awareness of its work with children and of the planned sessions in Kilgetty.
The main items discussed at the full council meeting were:
KBCC has written to Pembrokeshire Community Health Council and to Lesley Griffiths, AM, Minister for Health and Social Services, expressing its concerns about Hywel Dda's proposals for closure of the Minor Injuries Unit in Tenby and the reduction in the level of services provided at the Special Care Baby Unit in Withybush.
KBCC are still keen to hear from local residents on the possible take-up of allotments at the Miners Field in Kilgetty. Five local residents have already expressed their support and willingness to take up an allotment. KBCC will be arranging a meeting of interested parties in the near future to discuss how best to take forward this initiative.
The clerk is progressing with Pembrokeshire County Council the installation of a salt bin at Kilvelgy Park, Kilgetty.
Following the accident that took place alongside the Community Centre in late December, the fencing and gate damage has now been repaired.
Rubbish, including an old mattress, has now been cleared from the stream in New Road, Begelly.
County Clr. Pugh had arranged for the pathway near to Sardis Road and Cooksyeat View, Kilgetty, to be cleared of moss during the next week.
The Community Association is planning another quiz night, provisionally booked for May.
Additional rubbish bins for Kilgetty, provided by Pembrokeshire County Council, should be in place soon.
Pembrokeshire County Council and KBCC are continuing to monitor the deterioration of the footpath between Manian Lodge and Begelly Stores in Begelly. Widening of the footpath is being considered.
Recent flooding has left a deposit of mud at the entrance to the underpass in Station road, Kilgetty, which is now quite slippery and quite hazardous. A nearby pedestrian and cyclist sign is also in a state of disrepair. The clerk is to inform PCC.
KBCC is still in discussion with Pembrokeshire County Council about the installation of a hand rail at the entrance to Mayfield Acres, Kilgetty.
Planning: Removal of agricultural occupancy condition No. 3 from consent D3/664/76 at Cartref, Reynalton (no objections); kiosk and security fence with new underground pumped combined sewer overflow at land south-west of Barley Cottages, New Road, Begelly (no objections).
All other planning notices were noted.
County councillor's report: Clr. Pugh reported upon the vandalism to street lights near Begelly roundabout and Carmarthen Road, Kilgetty.
The next meeting of Kilgetty Begelly Community Council will take place on Thursday, March 14, in the Green Room of the Community Centre, commencing at 7.30 pm.
March planning applications will be available for inspection 15 minutes prior to the start of the meeting along with all correspondence received since the last meeting.
