An amazing £1,454 was raised for local bird sanctuary Tinker's Hill over the Jubilee weekend last month.

Amroth Community Council planned and organised the event with the involvement of all local businesses.

Over the weekend, there was a variety of events and stalls, including beach sports, pebble castle building, treasure hunts, face painting, bouncy castle, pub entertainment and numerous stalls on the Amroth seafront.

The evening ended with the lighting of the Jubilee beacon and an excellent firework display by Celtic Fireworks, of Narberth.

It was a great weekend for both locals and visitors, and it is hoped that the council will run another 'Fun Day' on Bank Holiday Monday, May 27, 2013.

In thanking the community for her cheque, Maria Evans of Tinker's Hill said: "What a wonderful weekend the community and the council organised for the Jubilee celebration.

"I would like to thank the council and everyone in the community for their tremendous support. The sum raised for our cause at Tinker's Hill was truly amazing, and I would be most grateful if you would pass on my sincere gratitude."
