Last Sunday, Trinity V, the Rector presided and preached at the Holy Eucharist, assisted by Mr. Graham Thomas and Mr. Bob Lewis, lay reader.

This was Fr Paul's last service at Jeffreyston before his retirement and, for his address, he used the text from St. John's Gospel, Ch 4 vv 37 and 38: "For here the saying holds true, 'one sows and another reaps'. I sent you to reap that for which you did not labour; others have laboured, and you have entered into their labour."

During his address, he reflected on his life in the parish over the past 23 years, thanking all those who had contributed, supported and helped during that time and trusts that this will continue in the future as it has for the last 800 or so years.

The Rev. Robin Webley presided and preached at Lawrenny. The Sunday School held a surprise party for 'Auntie Pam', who is also retiring, when they presented her with a planter and gift tokens.

In her thanks to them, she said that it was her hope and prayer that they would continue to meet together each Sunday under the experienced and motherly nurture of 'Auntie Sallie' who has been such a great and talented support to the Sunday School. She will be helped by several of the mums.

Jessica and Harry read the prayer for the Sunday School, summing up the theme of the day.

On Sunday evening, the annual Sea Sunday Service was held at Cresswell Quay, when a large crowd gathered to give thanks and pray for the Mission to Seafarers. The members of Pisgah Chapel were welcomed and Pastor David read the lesson, Mr. Bob Lewis, lay reader, and Mr. Graham Thomas led the prayers and the Rector, Fr Paul. preached.

Tonight (Friday, 13), the annual Pig Roast for the Parishes will be held at Cresswell Quay by kind permission of Maurice and Janet Cole.

On Sunday, Trinity VI, services will be 10.30 am Eucharist and Sunday School at Jeffreyston; 10.45 am at Lawrenny and 11.30 am at Loveston (note change of time for Loveston). A warm welcome is extended to all.
