The proposed increase in councillors’ pay came was implemented in April with an extra £150 on the basic salary.

The Independent Remuneration Panel for Wales issued its annual report and salaries in February with the changes coming into effect on April 1.

The £150 increase to the basic salary from £14,218 to £14,368 is a 1.06 per cent uplift a report to Pembrokeshire County Council’s democratic services on Monday (June 21) states.

An increase was also made to contributions towards cost of care and personal allowances while undertaking approved council duties with a £403 cap replaced with support for formal care costs as evidenced and informal care costs up to the real UK living wage rate.

Payments to co-opted members with voting rights have also increased by £12 for meetings over four hours – to £210 – and £6 for those under – to £105.

The same increase is in place if they are also chairmen of committees with a £268 payment for meetings over four hours and £134 for those under.

Co-opted members are limited to a maximum of ten full days each municipal year, a report to committee adds.
