CONGRATULATIONS to Greenhill School pupil Ollie Wheeler who has been selected to play for Wales U16s hockey team for three tests, the first of which will take place against Scotland in Glasgow this weekend.

The Wales U16s side will then play in the European Hockey 5s tournament in Lithuania in July.

After training with the U18s for the last couple of weeks, Ollie was also told he has been selected for the Wales U18s side to play Ulster in Belfast this month.

At 15, Ollie who will be the ‘youngster’ in the U18s squad, has worked really hard for this sporting opportunity, and over the last couple of weeks, he has been training with Pembrokeshire Harriers working on sprint training, with a big thank you going to Luke Foley for introducing him to the sand pit and Richard, his sprint coach, for pushing him on the track.

Ollie is an established U16s squad member having played for the side last year as a 14-year-old so stepping up to the U18s as a 15-year-old is a huge achievement.

Ollie played for Wales U16s against Switzerland over Easter scoring five goals and helping his country to win the series.
