Friday (February 4) marks World Cancer Day, which Samuel Kurtz MS is using to signpost constituents to important cancer services across Carmarthen West and South Pembrokeshire.

The effects of both the pandemic and the cost-of-living crisis have made this a particularly concerning time for people living with cancer in Wales – many are struggling with rising bills and the worry of cancelled hospital appointments.

That’s why Mr. Kurtz – the local Senedd Member for Carmarthen West and South Pembrokeshire – is urging everyone to familiarise themselves with the cancer charity services available to them.

Mr. Kurtz said: “Living with cancer is difficult at the very best of times, but the last two years have been extremely tough for a whole host of reasons.

“That’s why this World Cancer Day, I’m making sure local residents know what support is available to them, should they or someone they love be diagnosed with cancer.

“Macmillan Cancer Support offer a fantastic support line, providing physical, financial and emotional support to anyone who needs it.

“So whatever cancer throws your way, they’re right there with you.

“But they’re not the only ones – there’s a whole host of local organisations that go above and beyond the call of duty to ensure everyone in West Wales can get the support they need, when they need it most.”

For more information about the services offered in your local area, you can contact the office of Samuel Kurtz MS for more information.

For other support, you can contact The Macmillan Support Line, which is available for everyone living with cancer and is open seven-days-a-week, 8 am to 8 pm, on 0808 808 00 00.
