Colleagues at Lydstep Beach Holiday Village recently held an event for British Heart Foundation Cymru (BHF) to help to raise vital funds to help beat heartbreak forever and BHF volunteers provided free CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation) training throughout the day for anyone who wanted to learn lifesaving skills.
The event included a barbeque and cake stall which raised a considerable amount over £500. Dave Evans Manager at the holiday resort said: “We’re delighted to support BHF Cymru as it’s a charity that makes a difference to so many people’s lives and we are so pleased with the amount that was raised and it was wonderful to see so many take part in the free CPR training.”
The BHF funds research into all heart and circulatory conditions, including heart diseases, stroke and vascular dementia, along with risk factors including diabetes.
The South West Wales Chamber of Commerce helped facilitate the event and Sharon Adams, the Relationship Manager for South West Wales helped out on the day.
Jayne Lewis Fundraising Manager South West Wales said: “Currently less than one in ten people survive an out of hospital cardiac arrest in the UK. We need more people in Wales trained in CPR so more lives can be saved.
”I would like to thank everyone at Lydstep Beach resort for hosting such a wonderful event and for their generous donations which will help fund research into heart and circulatory diseases.
“I’m grateful to everyone who joined us for this event, and took the time to learn CPR. My thanks to Mike Ring from Medsafe Training who helped deliver the CPR training and also to Sharon Adams for her help in organising the event.”
“Heart and circulatory diseases kill one in four people in Wales which is devastating for those they leave behind. BHF Cymru is funding pioneering research, to find vital treatments for people living with these conditions.
“Too many lives are lost in Wales each year, and we’re determined to do everything we can to help the 375,000 people across Wales who are fighting a daily battle with heart and circulatory disease.
“Thanks to the support of colleagues and residents at Lydstep beach resort BHF can continue to fund research into these conditions.”
