PEOPLE across Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire have an important opportunity to share their experiences of community pharmacy services and help shape their future delivery.
Since October 2021, health boards in Wales have been required by Welsh Government to publish a Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment (PNA). This assessment explains which pharmacy services already have, any that are missing, and what services may be needed in the future to meet the needs of local communities.
The assessment must be updated every five years and helps inform decisions about how services are developed and improved.
Hywel Dda University Health Board has prepared an updated draft PNA. This draft is supported by recent engagement with community pharmacy contractors and members of the public that took place in February this year. The health board is now inviting feedback on the draft before publishing a final version later in the year.
The survey opened on May 18, 2026 and closes on July 17, 2026. You can get involved by:
- Completing the survey online at: www.haveyoursay.hduhb.wales.nhs.uk/have-your-say-on-future-pharmacy-services
- Picking up a paper copy at your local pharmacy
- Requesting a copy by emailing: [email protected] or calling 0300 303 8322 and selecting option 5 (‘other services’).
Rhian Bond, Hywel Dda’s Assistant Director of Primary Care said: “Community pharmacies play a vital role in supporting people’s health and wellbeing. They are often the first point of contact for advice, treatment and support. By providing feedback you can help us ensure services are accessible, effective and meet the needs of communities now and in the future.”
A final Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment will be published later in 2026 on the health board’s website, alongside a summary of the feedback received.
You can read the Health Board’s current PNA published in 2021 on the Hywel Dda website.
