There was extra fun at a Pembroke shop during the Whitsun holidays for kids, with SpongeBob SquarePants’ bestie turning up Patrick Star!

Local Kayleigh Kitts has been bringing such much loved characters to life during the pandemic, to bring some cheer to local children in between her caring job.

The costume was supplied to her by Mrs. Harries, of Ashdale Nursing Home.

This year she chose to support local business owner and friend, Abi Roberts, at The Sweet Retreat on Pembroke’s Main Street, which opened its doors August 2020.

Last Thursday (June 3) ith Abi serving the customers inside, Kayleigh attracted the customers outside, and soon enough locals and visitors alike were all joining in with the fun!

Motorists driving by even slowed down to toot or wave, from cars to bus drivers to delivery drivers and even the all important emergency services!

“Whilst we did character day to support a local business, the Sweet Retreat brought a little extra spark to all the locals and tourists in town, and it was good to see a bit more normality returning for the children, and even for the adults, who were shocked and excited to see the character walking around outside the shop and waving!” said Kayleigh, who said that more character days will be coming up soon.
