Tavernspite School children are swapping pencils for plimsoles to take part in their annual fun run on Pendine Sands.
The run on Sunday, May 6, is open to all runners - whether they've got a link with the school or not - and sees children compete over 2kms and over 12s run 5kms. Last year's event raised more than £1,000 for the school.
"This is a great event which the whole school - children, teachers, parents and grandparents join," said deputy headteacher, Sarah Arthur.
"We are an active school and this is part of our Activ4Active programme, so we do something active to raise money for something active - last year we built a climbing wall with the money raised."
Event organiser, Lisa Humphrey, said: "This is the third year we've held the event and it was a great success last time, with nearly 75 runners, from club runners to tiny tots, taking part.
"We'd love to encourage anyone who has got an interest in running or getting fitter to turn up - it's open to everyone. We've had mums pushing prams and mega-fit triathletes doing it in the past."
It costs £2.50 for children and £5 per adult, and as well as t-shirts and trophies for the winning boys and girls in seven categories, everyone who finishes gets a medal. There will also be a barbecue on the beach from 11.30 am.
• To take part in the fun run on Pendine beach on May 6, children can register at 11 am to run at 12 (midday), adults (12 years and over) register at 12.15, run at 1 pm.
