A beach clean took place at Freshwater West on January 2. About 35 people attended the event on Sunday, including a number of children.

“It is always surprising what we find,” said Alex Moss, Stackpole Estate Welcome Manager, who also supplied photographs of some of the litter found.

“Despite the hail and rain our enthusiastic volunteers collected a large amount of litter from the beach,” she continued. “It was great to see so many children joining in.”

The National Trust organise regular winter cleans at the dune-backed beach. In addition to the organised beach cleans they have COASTodian volunteers who regularly litter pick on local beaches as well as around the Stackpole Estate.

The next beach clean at Freshwater West is on February 13, from 10 am to 12 noon.

“We are always grateful for any support to help collect all the micro plastics that are so damaging to wildlife and the environment, Alex added.

“People are welcome to turn up on the day , no pre booking required.”
