In 1991, the Rotary Club of Narberth and Whitland became twinned with a Rotary Club in the Vendee, France. Since then the clubs have made alternative visits to the two countries and recently a party of nine Rotarians from France and their partners were hosted by Rotarians and members of Inner Wheel in and around Narberth and Whitland.

The local club's International chairman, Rotarian Ken Morgan, had organised a full and interesting programme which was thoroughly enjoyed by all who participated.

The group from the Rotary Club of Fontenay le Comte, near La Rochelle in the Pays de la Loire region in France, was led by their president, architect Thibault Pochon. The party included a landscape gardener, a director of a brick and tile factory and a retired electrical equipment manufacturer.

Local Rotarians met the group at junction 33 on the M4 on a Friday and took them for a tour of Cardiff Bay. Then on to West Wales where they visited Folly Farm and Scolton Manor, with appropriate gourmet meals at various venues (very much appreciated by the French of course - and everyone else!).

On the Sunday, the party visited Aberglasney House and Gardens where everyone enjoyed a splendid lunch before saying 'au revoir'.

In about 18 months, it will be the turn of the Rotary Club of Narberth and Whitland to enjoy the company of their French hosts who have now become very good friends
