Former five times Mayor of Narberth, Clr. Colin Williams has resigned from his longstanding post on the town council.

A letter terminating his council post was accepted at Tuesday night's monthly meeting after the Mayor, Clr. Mrs. Sue Rees, read it to her colleagues.

"I am very sorry this situation has happened," she said.

"It has been very hard for everyone."

Mr. Williams's resignation also left the council without a representative on the board of governors at Narberth CP School.

After discussion, Clr. Mrs. Rees put her name forward and all agreed she take the position.

As reported last month, 73-year-old Mr. Williams has admitted theft of £400 from the town's football club. He will be sentenced later this month.
