New year! Are you ready for a new interest, feel that you need to get fit?
Well, Saundersfoot Footlights have just the answer (writes Sybil Whiston)!
Can you act, sing or dance? Always fancied treading the boards? We are auditioning for our next show, ‘Pingleford Players Proudly Present’! It’s an original show full of wonderful show songs, written by the very talented Allison Butler (creator of the hugely popular ‘Lifetime!’). We need you to help us bring it to life! As well as people for the main cast of the committee, we need a strong chorus of enthusiastic singers and dancers. There will be the bonus of an opportunity to wear our fabulous costumes during the show.
Auditions are tomorrow (Saturday) and Sunday, January 7 and 8, at 2 pm, for anyone aged 14 and over, at the Regency Hall, Saundersfoot.
For auditions you’ll be asked to sing two contrasting musical theatre songs,
Male - ideally sing a section from: Who I’d Be (from Shrek) or Serious (from Legally Blonde). Female - Ideally sing a section from: As Long As He Needs Me (from Oliver!) or The More You Ruv Someone (from Avenue Q).
Plus an extract of your own choice, or they can both be own choice, but please make sure that you bring sheet music for our pianist to accompany you. Look at the Facebook page for more details. You will also be asked to read an excerpt from the script if you are interested in a speaking part.
About the show.......
‘It’s a very important night. The Pingleford Players Amateur Dramatics Society are holding their quarterly committee meeting and once they’ve put the last show to bed, the next item on the agenda is the tricky task of deciding on their next production for their 40th anniversary. Do they return to the tried and tested shows they’ve produced in the past, or will the new director want to take them in a different direction? Is a seventh attempt at Pirates of Penzance one too many? Would a mini trampoline suffice to make Peter Pan fly? There’s an awful lot to discuss, if only everyone would concentrate and stop with the “Do you remember when’s” and make a decision!’
Rehearsals take place on Wednesdays and Sundays, starting after the auditions.
‘Pingleford Players Proudly Present’ will be performed during Spring Bank Holiday week, Monday, May 29, to Saturday, June 3, at 7.30 pm.
We also welcome volunteers who would like to help the ‘behind the scenes’ departments of costume, lighting and sound, scenery and kitchen to support the cast in providing another ‘Best Show Yet!’
