Tavernspite School has recently enjoyed a fantastic performance from the Year 6 leavers, with all of the children saying 'goodbye' to their teachers and fellow pupils in a very original (and humorous) manner. They provided a show all about their teachers and all parents attended the concert, with everyone finishing the assembly with a great rendition of the school song, 'Waving Flag.' During the assembly, all pupils received individual certificates and awards, with Clr. Huw George also presenting some more of the historic trophies associated with the school. As the photographs also show, two awards have been provided this year by the Spirit of Sulien Trust, with trustees Rachel Matthews and Claire Staniland giving the awards to the respective winners. The school says goodbye to a number of staff this term, including Miss Pacheco, who has covered maternity leave in the Early Years and Year 3 class. Also, the staff and children said goodbye to Linda and Caroline, two students from Germany who have been at the school for the summer term. In addition, Emma Lucas is leaving in order to complete a teaching qualification at Trinity Saint David. Mr. Phelps, headteacher, said: "I wish all of our Year 6 pupils the very best for their time in secondary school. They have all enjoyed a fantastic start to their education here at Tavernspite School and I'm sure that they will all go on to achieve many wonderful things. We say 'goodbye' to a number of staff this term, who have made a real difference to our school and pupils. I wish Miss Pacheco all the very best in her new post in Ysgol Bro Dewi and Emma all the very best for her teaching degree. Linda and Caroline have been a fantastic addition to our school this term, and I wish them the very best for the remaining part of their teaching degree in Germany."
