A fishy surprise has raised funds for the Pembroke Ladies Lifeboat Guild.

An RNLI Fish Supper event together with a raffle recently held at the Old King’s Arms Hotel amounted to over £600 raised for the charity.

“I was delighted to be invited back to the Old King’s Arms Hotel last week by hotel proprietor and Pembroke Ladies Lifeboat Guild Vice President, Mrs. Shirley Wheeler, to receive a cheque for £550 in funds raised at her recent RNLI Fish Supper event,” said Daphne Bush, Chair of Pembroke Ladies Lifeboat Guild.

“£600 is a significant amount which will support the charity’s necessary expenditure for research and development and first class equipment, ensuring the safety too, of volunteer crews and lifeguards when daily saving lives around the coast of the UK and the Republic of Ireland.

“The RNLI also provides a free 24/7 Inland waterway rescue service and Flood rescue service,” she added.

The hotel’s head chef, Sion Esmond, on behalf of Mrs. Wheeler, presented the cheque to Daphne.

“It was super to meet Sion, the creator of the Supper main course, a ‘Trio of Fish’.

“Pembroke Guild members and supporters, once again, extend their thanks to Mrs Wheeler, her restaurant and bar staff for such a superb evening.”
