At Tenby Guildhall, a Ministry Inspector said it was sheer nonsense to say a proposed out-of-town shopping precinct with nine shops and parking for 50 cars near the entrance to Kiln Park caravan site would affect the amenities of the area.
Miss Monique Viner made the remarks at a public inquiry which would hear an appeal against planning approval for the project.
Alderman Ivor Crockford, a prominent member of Tenby’s harbour community, coxswain of the lifeboat and a former Mayor, threatened to resign as chairman of the Borough Council’s harbour standing committee, if the council did not ask for the withdrawal of certain remarks made at a recent meeting of the newly formed Harbour Users Association.
