It was hoped the first car would be crossing the new high-level bridge, which was being built across Milford Haven, by April, 1971. It was to be a toll bridge and it was anticipated that the bridge would pay for itself in 40 years.

The funeral of Clr. Mrs. Georgina Margaret Dowsett of New Hedges, took place at St. Mary’s Parish Church. Mrs. Dowsett, who was 56, was only the third woman to have held office as Mayor of Tenby in more than five and a half centuries.
The wedding took place at Pembroke Register Office of Miss Carole Mary Anne Mountford and Mr. John Thomas Keane.
