Exciting new developments are underway at Pembrokeshire's community arts charity Span Arts, and to mark their relaunch they will be holding a fun day in the sun on Saturday, August 31, at the Narberth building, located on the Town Moor, full of music, laughter and food!
The organisation is a registered charity, which seeks to bring the live arts to Pembrokeshire, among other community initiatives.
Regular events take in comedy, theatre, and children's events in addition to a wide spectrum of music, from jazz, blues and world music, to pop, rock and hip-hop.
Span Arts are holding the summer fun day to celebrate the opening of a dynamic, multi-purpose visitor centre in the building, as well as a company rebrand, a new website, and the eagerly awaited 'Acoustic Sessions' - a new series of music events, focusing on roots, folk and acoustic, which begins the following Saturday.
The outdoor daytime event runs from midday to 4 pm, and there will be entertainment for all, including DJs, live music from Charlotte Gilpin and others, the opportunity to explore the Span Arts building and its new facilities, with local art on display and plenty to eat and drink with a barbecue, cakes, and a stall from local ice cream parlour Fire and Ice. Admission is free.
Span Arts recently organised music workshops in Neyland's pupil referral unit as part of the UK-wide Reach the Heights project, and is responsible for Narberth A Cappella Voice Festival - the only one of its kind in the country - as well as the town's annual plant sale.
The affiliated youth group, Aelwyd Celfyddydau Span, recently won a prize for their mixed media performance on the BBC Arts Council Wales stage at the Urdd Eisteddfod.
