Tenby and Saundersfoot Labour Party branch's annual dinner was much enjoyed last Friday evening when the guest speaker was Rhodri Morgan, ex-First Minister of Wales and newspaper columnist for the Western Mail.

An excellent meal was served to 50 members of the local constituency party, by the Fourcroft Hotel, Tenby. Present at the dinner were Regional AMs Rebecca Evans and Joyce Watson, May 2015 parliamentary candidate Delyth Evans and Welsh Assembly candidate for 2016, Marc Tierney.

In his after-dinner speech, Rhodri referred to some of his own past experiences in wider politics and talked a great deal of common sense, as usual, about the way in which politicians are portrayed in the media, according to the political bias of the newspapers, and of the truths so often distorted.

Norman Spence, in his vote of thanks, made the point that Rhodri was and never had been a man who had 'someone behind him pulling strings'. He was a man of integrity and honesty under whose guiding hand the Welsh Assembly was firmly established.

With conversations flowing in Welsh and English between Rhodri and dinner guests, it was a very convivial evening.
