As part of Caru Cymru, Keep Wales Tidy has launched Litter Free Zones – a brand-new scheme designed to encourage businesses to keep their community’s litter-free.

They’re reaching out to businesses across Wales to adopt specific zones to clean-up on a regular basis. It’s hoped businesses of all shapes and sizes will get involved, from village shops and private offices to supermarkets and industrial estates.

Tenby Town Council has joined the scheme and has taken on the North Walk Zigzag, which they will be litter-picking at least once a month.

Simon Preddy from Keep Wales Tidy came to Tenby to help with the First Litter-free zone litter pick.

Anne Draper, Tenby Town Council Community Engagement Officer, would like to encourage any Tenby business to join the scheme, and pick a little patch near their business to look after.

Any business can take part. There is a feedback form to be completed each time for Keep Wales Tidy, but that is all.

Adopting a Litter Free Zone signals to your customers that you are a responsible business that takes the issue of littering seriously. Keep Wales Tidy will provide you with resources to help you publicise your Litter Free Zone status.

Giving your staff an opportunity to volunteer has been proven to improve productivity, morale, and retention. Getting involved in projects outside of the office gives your staff the chance to connect with each other on a completely different level. It can be as small as the patch of pavement outside your shop front, or any other nearby area that you think would benefit from a bit of love.

If you are interested, get in touch with Tenby Town Council in the De Valence on Upper Frog Street, and Anne will pop round to see you and have a chat.
