In collaboration with Makers Bizarre fair, HaverHub is the venue for an afternoon and evening of entertainment for all the family. Today, Friday April 14 sees the launch of what is hoped to be monthly Friday evening of feel-good fun and entertainment.
Molly Lewis, Venue Manager at Haverhub, describes this afternoon’s Alternative Market as “the new way to combine buying local, buying beautiful and buying in person - while having a lovely afternoon or evening out with your family.”
“The more generations the merrier!” she adds.
This Free-entry event runs from 3pm to 10pm and will include:
- Makers Bizarre Market, with a range of locally made items, from art to jewellery and everything in between.
- Relax to live local music and enjoy a choice of family food from Mexican, Venezuelan dishes, bagels and pizzas to keep you going!
- Happy kids mean happy parents, so children’s crafts are laid on. Pembrokeshire Bouncy Castles and Face Painters are joining the event to make sure there is something for everyone. The bar and depot will also be open for plenty of additional mingling spaces.
‘Makers Bizarre’ began when two local small business owners grew tired at the lack of opportunities to showcase their products and knew that fellow small business owners must be feeling the same. Encouraged by shared frustrations, Jenny and friends decided to start their own markets, showcasing the talented local makers and producers to the public.
A meeting between HaverHub and Makers Bizarre quickly gelled into a collaboration to do an ‘Alternative Market’, also focusing on locals and young families, who find it hard to go out on the weekends with few family-friendly spaces in Haverfordwest town centre.
Jenny Miles of Makers’ Bizarre said: “The HaverHub on Quay Street is an amazing, local, multi-purpose community space with fantastic potential to be used by all for a variety activities.”
Together these two businesses aspire to bring something new and alternative to Haverfordwest, building on the popularity of the Farmers Market and Craft Fayres, but this time combining a family friendly evening event: taking over the whole fabulous Old Post Office site with its café, hall, courtyard and depot/bar.
“The hope is that this will become a series of inclusive events for local talent and trading that families and friends can come and enjoy together, in a safe and fun community environment,” added Gitti Coats of HaverHub.
Future Dates scheduled for the Alternative Market so far are May 26, June 30, July 28, August 25 and December 15.
