Chapter One Bookshop in Narberth is hosting a Nature Writing for Wellbeing Workshop on Saturday, November 8 led by debut author Lottie Williams.

The workshop is open to all and is aimed at those interested in writing about nature to support wellbeing. Depending on access needs the workshop could also include a visit to the grounds of St Andrew’s Church, just one minute down the road, to find inspiration.

Lottie Williams, whose first book The Edge of Everything came out in the summer, is an experienced writing for wellbeing facilitator and was part of the Literature Wales’ Sgwennu Well programme in which she developed a nature-based writing for wellbeing programme for young people.

The Edge of Everything, published by the H’mmm Foundation, is Lottie’s nature-memoir about the sudden death of her father and her reflections on that as a parent. It’s been described as ‘a poignant celebration of life, and living in the moment.’ by Julie Brominicks, author of The Edge of Cymru. Author Jon Gower described it as a ‘vivid collection of poetry and prose, and poetic prose’.

Whether you’re just starting out or an experienced writer, the workshop will be a supportive space to find inspiration, do some writing and learn from an experienced nature writer as well as meet like-minded people. There will be no pressure to share what you have written.

Lottie will also be signing books after the workshop in our bookshop. The workshop runs from 2pm to 4pm and tickets are £5 which includes 10 per cent off Lottie’s book.

Chapter One is a friendly, volunteer-run independent bookshop based at Narberth Museum. It has new and secondhand books, a cosy café and hosts events - from author talks and workshops, to book bars and paperback breakfasts.
