MILFORD Haven Amateur Operatic Society is “over the moon” on winning two NODA Wales and Ireland awards for District 6 on Saturday, April 18 at the National Operatic Drama Association awards ceremony at Venue Cymru in Llandudno.
Huge congratulations go to Ross Austin for winning Outstanding Comedy Performance in a musical and the whole company, orchestra and crew for winning Outstanding Musical Production for Disney’s Beauty and the Beast 2025.

These prestigious awards are in recognition of the society’s production team and the dedication of all participating members.
Milford Haven Amateur Operatic Society started in 1950 and since the very beginning has brought people together from the community who are united in their lives for the arts. It was the very first amateur society to stage a production at the Torch Theatre when it opened in 1977 and has been staging Operettas and musicals there ever since.

The group is made up of over 50 members. Rehearsals for productions begin in early September through to staging in March. The society is always looking for new people over the ages of 16 to join (especially men).

A spokesperson for Milford Haven Amateur Operatic Society said:
“Disney’s Beauty and the Beast was very special as it marked our 75th anniversary. We were absolutely delighted to win the Noda Award for Outstanding Musical Production and for Ross Austin who played Lumiere to win Outstanding Male Actor in a comedy role.
“These awards are a true reflection of the hard work put in by the whole company, orchestra and backstage crew. Our talented Production team made up of Geraint Sayers - Director, Mark Jones- Musical Director and Sarah Hirst - Choreographer pulled out all the stops to create a spectacular sell out week for us.

The society’s next production will be Chitty Chitty Bang Bang at the Torch Theatre in March 2027.
