Discover Pembrokeshire's history at Carew Castle this coming Monday, with hands-on archaeology activities, medieval-themed challenges, and expert talks.

Unearthing History: Pembrokeshire’s Past will give visitors a unique opportunity to explore Pembrokeshire’s rich past on Monday, August 4, between 10am and 4pm. Normal admission fees will apply.

The event will bring together artefacts, collections and experts from across the region to tell the story of how archaeology has helped uncover the history of Pembrokeshire over time. With hands-on activities, games and demonstrations, the event offers something for everyone interested in the past – whether you’re a lifelong history enthusiast or just curious about what lies beneath your feet.

Throughout the day, the Castle grounds will be filled with activity, from live demonstrations and archaeological displays to medieval-themed challenges and traditional crafts. Specialist talks from expert historians and authors will offer insights into the past, while younger visitors will be able to take part in an archaeological excavation, Knight School, Have-a-go Archery and sling-shot.

Carew Castle Manager Daisy Hughes said: “This event is all about making history come alive – whether that’s through handling real artefacts, speaking to the people who study them, or trying out traditional skills and activities. It’s a chance to explore the past in a practical and engaging way in one of the most iconic historic settings in Pembrokeshire.”
