CELEBRATE St David’s Day inspired by the words of Wales’ patron saint: “Gwnewch y pethau bychain”/ “Do the little things”, with residents and visitors encouraged to embrace the spirit of St David with ‘Random Acts of Welshness’: cook a bowl of cawl for a neighbour, wear a daffodil, try a few words of Welsh, or support local businesses.

Shop locally at Carmarthenshire’s Markets for fresh, seasonal ingredients and make a cawl, or take part in the Cawl Crawl, sampling delicious versions of this Welsh classic from talented local chefs.

A vibrant programme of St David’s Day events will take place across the county, from cultural performances and family workshops to outdoor activities and food festivals. A full list of events is available at Discover Carmarthenshire, the county’s dedicated guide to what’s on across the county.

Carmarthenshire County Council will host a range of community-focused events, including themed sessions and celebrations within local libraries.

The celebration will continue across Carmarthenshire’s markets, with a parade through Llanelli, accompanied by a performance from a local choir. In Carmarthen, People Speak Up will host engaging storytelling sessions alongside arts and crafts activities. Meanwhile, Green Top Markets will support St David’s Day fayres in both Llanelli and Ammanford, bringing communities together to celebrate Welsh culture and heritage.

A St David’s Day Grand Parade in Carmarthen town centre will start at 11am on February 28, from St Peter’s Church to Guildhall Square. Residents and visitors are encouraged to bring flags and bells.

An evening of storytelling at Tea Traders, Carmarthen, will explore the life of St David, with local storyteller Liz Evans sharing tales of Welsh customs and traditions.

Canolfan Pentre Awel will hold a St David’s Day Festival, featuring Welsh market stalls and live music from local performers.

Families can enjoy outdoor activities at Pembrey Country Park, including a Welsh-themed 5K Colour Run. Food enthusiasts can visit the St David’s Day Food & Drink Festival (February 28 – March 1) to enjoy Welsh produce, live music, cooking demonstrations, and a variety of food and drink stalls.

New for 2026, the Little Things Festival (March 1) at the National Botanic Garden of Wales, Llanarthne, will celebrate Welsh culture with live music from emerging BBC Horizons/Gorwelion artists, interactive trails, creative workshops, nature activities and live art by Nathan Wyburn.

Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Leisure, Culture and Tourism, Cllr Hazel Evans, said:
