November saw the AGM of Cosheston WI where all of the officials were unanimously re-elected with the addition of Fay John being elected as Assistant Minutes Secretary.

In her president’s address, Mary James thanked all the officials for all their hard work during the year and to the members for their continued support. Mary said the highlight of the year was performing at the Torch Theatre.

Janet Howell’s secretary’s report was an in-depth summary of the year - it is safe to say Cosheston WI has been very busy - and June Wheeler gave her treasurer’s report.

Following the technicalities, Cosheston Village Hall was transformed into a Kurling arena, with two teams, spectators and, for authenticity, a scorekeeper.

The competitive energy was apparent and the arena fell silent when the team members took their shots.

The two most consistent players of all were Mary James and Janet Hallett, getting on or near the bullseye with each shot.  Jenny flipped, June lost her wheels and if the doors of the hall were open, Fern’s Kurling stone would have made it to the playing field more than once.  Having never played before, she said it was really fun and sociable and great for team building.

The December meeting promises to be full of festive cheer and is on December 12, 7pm at Cosheston Village Hall.
