WALK, talk and enjoy freshly produced organic cheeses! Penrhiw Farm introduces the long lunch, Pembrokeshire style.

Comprising a 17th-century Georgian farmhouse and four-bedroom B&B, Penrhiw is located on the outskirts of Goodwick and Fishguard – and sits in a scenic spot on the ancient Pancaer Peninsula, between the Preseli Hills and the Pembrokeshire Coast Path.

Pencw Cheese, a new addition to the organic farmstead’s offer, is made from the milk of their small herd of 20 organic Jersey Cows.

To introduce the delights of their new Cheese Cottage to visitors, the owners have launched a long lunch offering in the form of a convivial ‘land and nature trail’.

The monthly half-day events will combine excellent story telling with a scenic circular walk and a seasonal feast of organically grown produce, all accompanied by a toast to the land with locally brewed beer.

Hosted Alan Latter, his partner Philip and local guide and musician David Pepper, the trails will begin with a short tour and insight into the workings of the Organic farm, before heading out on an hour-long (3.2km) circular route.

Then it will be time to settle into the ancient farmhouse for chat over an informal seasonal feast featuring Pencw Cheese and a farmers’ platter using farm-grown produce and other locally-sourced ingredients.

Walks are planned on July 12, August 2 and September 13. The ticket price includes a welcome talk and tour of the farm and an insight into the cheese production.

Those staying are in for a treat: rooms with furniture hailing from the Dorchester hotel, no less, accented with Welsh art and blankets; cooked breakfast with vegetarian and vegan options and freshly ground coffee. And Alan’s cheffing skills make for a delicious evening meal, reflective of the season.
