Lovers of food and drink, gardens and live music in Carmarthenshire next weekend should head to Aberglasney.
The Heritage Gardens are the beautiful surroundings of Aberglasney’s first Food & Music Fair, set to indulge all your senses. The weekend-long event will be a celebration of locally produced food and drink, with the entertainment being provided by music artists from around west Wales.
On Saturday and Sunday, September 9 and 10, the Gardens will be transformed into a foodie paradise with a variety of stalls selling locally produced cakes, doughnuts, chutneys, chocolate, wine and spirits, as well as ‘on-the-go’ food and drink vendors. There will also be Aberglasney’s very own Tearooms.
During the Fair, children will be able to play a variety of lawn games and take part in the Aberglasney Tree Trail to learn more about which trees call the gardens their home.
Appearing on the music main stage will be Saxy Brass and Old Stratford on the Saturday and on the Sunday the main acts will be No Mean Biscuit and The Flyrites. There will also be a variety of local choirs, the Guitar Duo, Wandering Minstrel and a sax soloist to keep visitors entertained over the weekend.
The Fair will be open each day from 10am until 6pm. Entrance to the event will be by admission charge with no separate entrance fee to the Gardens. Aberglasney members are admitted to the Food & Music Fair free of charge as part of their membership package. Parking will be at the Gardens with additional parking available in adjoining fields. Group discounts are available if pre-arranged.
Aberglasney was made famous by the BBC television series “A Garden Lost in Time” which followed its restoration. Today it is quite simply one of Wales’ finest gardens, and at its heart lies a fully restored Elizabethan Cloister Garden that is the only surviving example of its kind in the UK today. Beyond this, visitors can explore 10 acres of over 20 different garden styles from formal to woodland, right through to exotic and modern along with the fully restored ground floor of Aberglasney’s grade II* listed mansion offer a stunning venue for exhibitions and events.
