Emergency repairs to a collapsed sewer has seen one of the main routes out of Tenby closed to traffic this week.
A ‘temporary prohibition of vehicular traffic’ notice was advertised by Pembrokeshire County Council to authorise the emergency road closure, to allow for the works to take place in the vicinity of Four Seasons Fruit and Vegetable shop.
As of Monday, Upper Park Road from its junction with Trafalgar Road to its junction with the access to the multi-storey car park has been closed, with a ‘one way’ order for Upper/Lower Park Road temporarily suspended for the duration of the works to enable Heavy Goods Vehicles to travel to businesses located along these roads under Traffic Management control.
The alternative route for traffic has been via - Trafalgar Road, Queens Parade, Station Road, Warren Street and Penally Hill.
Pedestrian access has been maintained for the duration of the works, which were expected to be completed by the weekend.
“It is anticipated that this closure will be completed within the timeframe stated, however, this notice may continue in force for a period not exceeding 21 days, after which time its provision maybe extended by another notice under the same act if necessary,” stated Darren Thomas PCC’s head of infrastructure.
