Local artist and Tavernspite School parent Martina Morgan has produced an incredible, jaw-dropping piece of art work on the wall of Tavernspite School hall.

This piece of work has been commissioned by Dr. Faiz Ali and Dr. Taher Ali, whose children have been pupils at the school for many years.

As their youngest son, Haroon, prepares to leave for secondary education in September, the family wanted to give the school a leaving present. After a discussion, with Mr. Phelps, headteacher, the idea for this fantastic mural was born.

Mr. Phelps contacted Martina who was willing to give her free time to design and create this incredible piece of work.

After working very long hours, day after day, often assisted by her very talented 12-year-old daughter Nia-Anne, the mural started to take its amazing form. When it was eventually complete, the results were simply stunning and shows how talented and dedicated these artists truly are. Everyone in the school community, particularly the children, are delighted with it.

Said headteacher Mr. Phelps: “The mural encapsulates all the values and vision that we hold so dear here at Tavernspite School.

“It clearly illustrates everything that the school is about and where it is in the world. Martina and Nia-Anne have done such an incredible job that it is quite difficult to put into words. We are also very grateful to Drs. Ali their very kind donation to allow this project to flourish.

“ The mural will be displayed proudly on our school wall for decades to come.”
