Students at Whitland’s Ysgol Dyffryn Taf have been celebrating A-Level exam successes.
The results received yesterday (Thursday) sustain the high standards achieved by the North Road school.
Headteacher, Mr. D. R. Newsome OBE, said: “The school wishes to congratulate students on the success achieved at A-Level and associated vocational courses during the current academic year.
“These students have shown both dedication and perseverance in their studies throughout their time at Dyffryn Taf and deserve the accolade associated with such success.
“The performance reflects the efforts and effective partnership that exists between individual students, their parents and the teachers at Dyffryn Taf.”
Mr. Newsome continued: “The school endeavours to produce well-rounded individuals who have a diversity of skills to meet the various demands of higher education and employment.
“It is hoped that the school’s community programme, the post-16 work experience, and cultural and competitive opportunities, will further enhance the potential of these students and complement the excellent results achieved.
“This has been enhanced with the introduction of the Welsh Baccalaureate and a blend of vocational subjects.”
And he added: “On behalf of the students and governors of the school, I wish to thank all the staff for their dedication and for providing the quality and diversity of educational experiences for all at the school.
“We wish all the A-Level students every success in the future.”
The percentage of students gaining two A*-E grades (pass) was 93 per cent, while those gaining at least two A*-C grades was 87 per cent.

Ysgol y Preseli would like to congratulate all their pupils on gaining outstanding results once again.
Of the 91 students who sat A-Level examinations, 35 per cent of grades were awarded at A*-A; 83 per cent at A*-C and 99 per cent A*-E. A record 15 per cent of grades awarded were at the top A* level.
Headteacher Mr. Michael Davies wishes to thank the pupils and teachers for their hardwork and dedication along with the parents, governors and the wider community for their continued excellent support.
Mr. Davies said “This is a very impressive set of results and I am delighted that so many of our students have done so well. I am particularly pleased that the vast majority have received places at the universities of their choice, apprenticeships and employment and all at the school wish them every success in the future. The school is particularly pleased with the results for the Welsh Baccalaureate Advanced Qualification which was graded for the first time this year. One hundred per cent of grades awarded were A*-C and over 51 per cent A*-A.”
