On returning to school after the Christmas break the children of Saundersfoot CP School were aware of Australia’s problem with the bushfires.

Pupils all wanted to do something to help, so the school council decided on a ‘wear your own clothes’ day on January 24 to raise funds.

The Enterprise Club also sold origami Koalas to increase the amount of money the school raised, whilst some of the staff decided to hold a stall and sell koala keychains as well. Even Mrs. Redford (the school cook) held a themed dinner day.

Every pupil in the school brought a donation in, to help the people, animals and buildings that are suffering, with the total so far raised over £200, with more money coming in through a raffle for a Kindle, kindly donated by Grace and Lowri in Year 3.

The school has a number of pupils with family in Australia and wanted to help in some small way. All of the money will go to WIRES Wildlife rescue, a charity that helps volunteers and rescuers who save animals.

The school council would like to thank Lowri and Grace for organising the raffle and Delpi and family for the chosen charity.
