The New Year has brought some changes to Saundersfoot CP School with the relocation of Saundersfoot Playgroup to a new space at the school site.

The playgroup and day-care facility has been looking after Saundersfoot children for over 25 years.

The move is good news for the children who attend because they will now have their own outdoor play area, access to the full school grounds, and an exciting and stimulating indoor space.

The school’s headteacher, Mr. Nick Allen commented: “As a community focused school, we are delighted to welcome Saundersfoot Playgroup staff, pupils and parents to the school site.

“What we have all experienced this past two years as a community, county and nation has shown the importance of a school site and what it offers children.

“This is not only in terms of schooling and academia but the connections, friendships, and well-being. We are proud to offer the families and community of Saundersfoot a childcare and education from 2-11 years old.”

The childcare setting provides part-time and all-day care for 2-4 year olds, including funded wraparound for 3-4 year olds attending part-time school next door as part of the Welsh Government’s 30-hour childcare offer.

Saundersfoot Playgroup and Day-care remains an independent registered charity and the move was made possible by a £6,285 Enhancing Pembrokeshire Grant from Pembrokeshire County Council, funded by the Second Homes Council Tax.

Cheryl Evans, playgroup manager, said: “My team and I are delighted to have moved up to the school and the children have settled into their new facilities really quickly.

“Being at the school site makes it especially easy for parents who have children both at the playgroup and in school and will really help children make the jump to full-time school.”
