Pembrokeshire College’s second year level 3 interactive media students experienced the snazzy world of advertising when they attended a taster day at the University Wales Trinity Saint David (UWTSD) Swansea College of Art.
Hosted by Swansea’s BA advertising and brand design team, the group enjoyed a taste of an exciting creative career by taking part in a branding and advertising exercise.
College interactive media student, Dominic Cunningham said: “I was really looking forward to coming to the taster day as I’d thought about pursuing my interest in advertising. I really enjoyed working on the mini campaign and now I’m certain that this is the path for me once I complete my college course!”
Angela Williams, UWTSD programme director for brand and advertising and lecturer, Martin Bush hosted the day and asked the group to work in small teams to take on the task of creating a brand for an organic strawberry and mint cordial. The group enjoyed a tour of the facilities with artist in residence Jordan Tench before pitching their final ideas and designs to the experts.
Pembrokeshire College interactive media lecturer, Denys Bassett-Jones commented: “This was a great opportunity for the group to experience student life and future study options. My students are not unfamiliar with real-life projects as many of them have designed logos for local companies. It’s great for them to get an insight into the creative world and experience as much as they can while they make decisions about their future.”
Come along to the college’s open evening on Tuesday, November 8, to see where your creative flair could take you!
