The February meeting of East Williamston Community and Hall Association took place on Monday, with a full complement of members present.

Everyone was delighted with the continuing success of the monthly quizzes, with an average of six or seven tables of contestants at each one.

Cliff and Tim, the January quizmasters, were thanked for the most enjoyable rounds of questions.

It was decided that, now an annual trophy is to be played for, the size of teams wishing to compete for this must contain no more than six people.

Larger teams may still take part, but their scores will not count towards the trophy.

The Friends of Jubilee Park continue to do an excellent job of clearing scrub, hedge laying and other maintenance tasks, often turning out in wet and windy conditions.

The committee expressed its appreciation. Four volunteers recently attended a grant-funded, certificated course on all aspects of strimming and brush cutting.

Two now hope to expand their expertise to use of chainsaws.

New and exciting plans to enhance the park amenities may be considered soon and enquiries had been received for its extended use in conjunction with hall bookings.

Hall maintenance continues to challenge funds, but social events are at present helping to keep the building up and running.

The next event will be the quiz evening tomorrow (Saturday), with Daphne and Caryl as quizmasters.

Everyone is invited to come and join in the fun, it is light-hearted and convivial, enhanced by the usual bar and raffle.

Doors open at 7.30 pm for a prompt 8 pm start.

The following Friday (February 14) sees a social evening in the hall, with a free light buffet.

The bar will be open and there will be a few surprises in store (note the date!).

Do come and join in the fun, everyone is welcome.
