An Army Cadet from Mynachlogddu, near Crymych, has been appointed as the Lord-Lieutenant's Cadet of Dyfed for 2015.
Cadet Sergeant Vincent Brinton received a distinctive sash with the badge of his appointment, which will last for one year, at an awards ceremony at the Ivy Bush Royal Hotel in Carmarthen.
The cadets were appointed after being nominated by cadet group leaders and the Reserve Forces' and Cadets' Association for Wales.
The role includes attendance with HM Lord-Lieutenant for Dyfed, The Hon Robin Lewis OBE CStJ, who acts as the Queen's representative, at a number of official engagements, including remembrance events, Royal visits and parades.
Vincent said: "I'm very happy to be appointed Lord-Lieutenant's Cadet, especially as there's only four of us in Dyfed. I'm looking forward to going to events with the Lord-Lieutenant, meeting new faces and visiting new places.
"I've done a lot in the cadets and I expect to do a lot more. I think it goes to show, if you work hard then you can go far. I'd recommend the cadets to people who want to do something positive with their time."
Vincent, a Four Star Cadet, has made quick progress since joining the Narberth Detachment of Dyfed and Glamorgan Army Cadet Force in 2010. With a flair for First Aid, Vincent holds an Activity First Aid qualification and he recently taught a Youth First Aid course at Penally Camp.
After achieving County Colours in the Cambrian Patrol competition, Vincent and four team members won gold medals at the Dyfed and Glamorgan Army Cadet Force First Aid Competition and then the 160 (Wales) Brigade First Aid Competition. The team will now represent Wales in the United Kingdom National First Aid Competition.
