A Pembroke Dock man accused of damaging a black BMW parked on the side of the road has been left with a hefty court bill of nearly £3,000 after admitting the offence.

Thirty-nine-year-old Darren Rees, of Catalina Avenue appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court on Thursday (December 19) where he was set for a trial, after initially pleading not guilty to a charge of causing £1983.26 worth of damage to the vehicle, but changed his plea to guilty on the day of the trial.

The incident which occurred on Pembroke Dock’s Dimond Street on July 24, was captured on CCTV.

Magistrates ordered Mr. Rees to pay compensation to the value of £1983.26 to Styner BMW Dealership, prosecution costs of £620, and a £90 victim surcharge.

The defendant was also handed a 12 month community order, to include a two month curfew requirement with electronic monitoring between 8 pm and 6 am daily; and a 15 day Rehabilitation Activity Requirement.
