Narberth’s Deputy Mayor has slammed Pembrokeshire County Council for ignoring concerns about the town’s Back Lane.
Clr. Sue Rees raised the issue during previous meetings, calling the situation ‘scandalous’ and said the police were in denial.
At the town council’s December 2019 meeting, she claimed that a constituent could no longer park his car at his house, meaning that he now had to pay £2 a day to park in the main car park.
At the same meeting, PCC’s county councillor for Narberth, Clr. Vic Dennis, said the situation “sounded exceptional.”
During another lively debate on the matter at Tuesday night’s meeting of the town council, Clr. Rees said she went to have a look at Back Lane over the weekend.
She found that the bins were full on Sunday and Monday, with bin bags being stacked on the bin.
Clr. Rees said that Back Lane was a road and not a pavement and PCC were ignoring it.
In response, Clr. Dennis said he still wasn’t getting complaints regarding the situation, but Clr. Rees suggested he speak to the residents about it.
Clr. Dennis replied saying that he had in fact spoken to residents about the situation.
“If this was the High Street it would have done like a shot,” remarked Clr. Rees.
The Deputy Mayor said she would contact the police as since the road was a public highway, it should be cleared.
