Councillors in Tenby have called for a meeting to discuss parking provision costs in the resort.
Members of the town council recently received correspondence from Pembrokeshire County Council’s street care and parking services manager, Marc Owen, with a list of ‘off street parking places’ in Tenby and across the county that had been proposed for being reviewed as part of a ‘Variation Order’.
Councillors once again stated that they were unhappy that parking charges in the resort were notably higher than anywhere else in the county, and asked for someone from PCC to come and explain it to them ‘face to face’ exactly how the pricing was worked out.
A response from Mr. Owen at their meeting on Tuesday night on the variation proposal, left councillors unsatisfied.
“With regards to meeting up, I would welcome this as part of future tariff reviews, however, I do not feel a meeting at this stage will have any bearing on the current Variation Order No 6 as tariffs are not being reviewed,” wrote Mr. Owen.
Responding to the correspondence, Clr. Ben James said: “We asked why we pay more for parking in Tenby than anywhere else in the county, and he’s not answered it!”
“This is not what we asked for,” agreed the Mayor, Clr. Mrs. Sue Lane, with Clr. Laurence Blackhall suggesting that if Mr. Owen was unavailable to come and speak to them, then perhaps they should invite the director of his department to attend a meeting instead.
