Narberth's County Councillor is under fire from the town council again.
Clr. Wynne Evans came in for criticism at Tuesday night's monthly meeting over plans to introduce a new section of double yellow lines on the southern side of Jesse Road.
In a letter to members from Pembrokeshire County Council, it said that they had received objections to the proposal from two properties.
They raised matters over the adverse impact the loss of parking would have on daily life, devaluation of property, parking at the rear of properties was contantly obstructed, poorly lit and not owned, security of vehicles, and elderly neighbours relied on carers to park close to their properties.
Council was also informed that a proposition to provide a traffic calming/20 mph zone outside the new primary school, which would have a direct effect on vehicular speed entering the corner, was proposed to be included in the Safe Routes in the Communities bid for 2012/13.
In addition, the letter stated that Clr. Evans withdrew his support for the introduction of double yellow lines and as a result, the proposal was dropped.
The letter brought an angry response from councillors, including Clr. Mrs. Sue Rees, who felt that the current situation in that location was an 'accident waiting to happen'.
"That is absolutely ludicrous," she said.
"Just because Clr. Evans withdrew his support means it is not going to happen. What about what Narberth Town Council want?" she asked.
"I really can't understand why Clr. Evans is so superior," she added.
"It is a hazard; the county council has got to put lines there one side of the road because it is currently impossible to see traffic coming in the opposite direction."
Clr. Mrs. Rees suggested the town council write a 'strong letter' of objection.
The Mayor, Clr. Colin Williams, also suggested inviting head of highways and construction, Darren Thomas, to a special meeting to discuss the matter.
Members agreed.
