Councillor Wynne Evans has resigned as a member of Narberth Town Council.

He has informed the clerk of the council, Mrs. Caroline Coaker, of his decision in a letter.

Clr. Evans told the Observer in a statement received yesterday (Thursday) that the first week of every month was a very busy time and that it was becoming increasingly difficult to attend town council meetings.

Clr. Evans has also told the Observer he intends not to seek re-election as a councillor for the Narberth ward seat on Pembrokeshire County Council in the next local authority elections.

"I feel by that time someone with fresh ideas and a new approach should be elected to this seat," Clr. Evans said.

"I have already informed senior colleagues in the county council of my decision."

He continued: "I am passionate about this vibrant town and the people of my ward. It is a demanding, but invigorating duty to serve a community that is so pro-active."

He added: "I hope that in the not too distant future, I will be given the opportunity to fully serve the people of South Pembrokeshire in a different role."
