A charity that aims to support children and their families living in Pembrokeshire who have suffered a bereavement, are set to receive a boost from Tenby town council.

Correspondence from the recently established Sandy Bear Children’s Bereavement Charity came before members of the town council at their meeting on Tuesday night.

“Whilst there is some bereavement care currently available for children in Pembrokeshire, our charity will deliver interventions and support which is not currently provided by anyone else,” explained the charity’s secretary Andrew Farmer.

“The charity will deliver the same level service as was provided by the previous, well known Sandy Bear service,” she added.

Speaking at the meeting Clr. Mrs. Alex Rees told her colleagues that she knew from working at Greenhill School, that this was a service that was ‘greatly needed’ for the county.

“This service is very valuable, as it really can help children that have lost parents,” she said.

The Deputy Mayor, Clr. Mrs. Christine Brown suggested writing back to the charity, for further information on their constitution, to allow the town council to provide them with a donation, with Clr. Trevor Hallett proposing £50 be given.
