There seems to be a lot of misinformation and speculation with regard to the county council's position on Narberth's carnival day parade and no road closures, says the town's county council representative.
"Having attended three separate meetings on this one subject in the last few days, I would like to explain so that there is no confusion whatsoever," he said.
"Road closure notices have been published and circulated in the last few days. If accepted, which I am sure they will be, it will mean that the police will now have full powers to close roads at agreed times, if they so choose, and they will work with the carnival parade chief marshal in agreeing what times and what roads are to be closed.
"I have suggested a total shutdown of the roads into town for 30 minutes to allow the parade to travel safely around the town and also make it safer for the large crowds in the streets."
He added: "Those are the simple facts of the matter, there is no hidden agenda, just a legal process, that has to be followed. Now let's all get on with having a very successful Civic Week."
