SPAN Arts is calling for more young people and families to join its volunteer team, as demand grows for its events programme at a time when volunteer numbers are low.
For over 30 years, SPAN Arts has brought communities together through creativity - using the arts to spark ideas, build connections, and inspire positive change. Like many community organisations, its work depends on volunteers, and that support is now more vital than ever.
Volunteers are the backbone of SPAN Arts, but at the moment they’re low on numbers, so they’ve issued an open invitation to get involved, whether for a short amount of time or a longer-term role.
Volunteering with SPAN Arts provides a chance to be part of a welcoming creative community while gaining valuable experience. Volunteers often meet new people and feel part of a supportive environment, build confidence and develop new skills, gain hands-on experience for their CV, and get a behind-the-scenes look at the creative industries.
Opportunities include supporting live events, working alongside professional artists, and learning about areas such as marketing, lighting, sound, and production.
For young people, volunteering is a great introduction to the arts and events sector. It offers the chance to join a friendly team, learn practical skills beyond the classroom, gain experience in live events, and grow in confidence through new challenges.
Families are also warmly encouraged to take part. With workshops and performances designed for young audiences, SPAN Arts offers an enjoyable setting to volunteer together.
This is an opportunity to spend quality time together in a creative environment, support children in building confidence and teamwork skills, share new experiences with the local community, and do something meaningful as a family.
Interested volunteers are invited to contact SPAN Arts’ Volunteer Coordinator, Belinda, for an informal chat, on 01834 869323 or [email protected] .
