THE July meeting of St Issell’s WI commenced with ladies enjoying nibbles and a drink, following a welcome from vice-president Anne-Marie Littlewood.
Business followed, with thanks going to Bee Poole and Jacqui Cowgill for the flowers for the top table - and birthday wishes for July going to Julia King-Thomas, Jacqui Cowgill, Anne Leech and Rachel Jones.
Best wishes were extended to Mary Cavell for a speedy recovery following her recent operation; congratulations went to Anne Slade on the arrival of new twin grandsons, and to Shelagh Griffin on a new great grandson.
Final arrangements were made for the trip on September 17, twenty-three ladies having paid the £10 deposit and given their menu choices. The coach will be free of charge, deposits to be returned on the coach. It will leave the Arcade in Saundersfoot at 10am with a second pick up at Kilgetty.
Bev was thanked for all her hard work in organising the trip.
There was some discussion about the Saundersfoot in Bloom flower Festival St Issell’s WI being allocated Tuesday, July 28 in the morning for refreshments. The location of the flower arrangement was not yet known.
It was agreed to accept the offer from Saundersfoot Rotary Club for a stall on the harbour at one of their duck races, and Sunday, August 9 has been chosen. Handbags and scarves will be on sale together with cakes. Volunteers will be needed to help man the stall.
The newsletter was read, three ladies having enjoyed the treasure hunt, and names were taken of those ladies interested in the event at Heatherton on October 8.
Names were taken of those interested in chair yoga which might take place in September either in Kilgetty or the Regency Hall.
The evening ended with ladies playing Catch a Crab - a type of Beatle Drive - which caused much hilarity. Anne-Marie won this month’s competition and Mary Lawrence was the lucky raffle winner.
Anne-Marie wished ladies a safe journey home, hoping for an enjoyable break during August. The next meeting will be on September 10 at 7.15pm in the Regency Hall.
New members are always welcome.
